Enough chatter over the next gen iPad Pro from Apple have already surfaced. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI was the first one to tell us that we won’t see the device before the second half of 2015, and now in a new development, he has revealed that the 12.9-inch tablet will come a stylus to optimize the user experience.
Breaking it to Apple Insider, he says that the Pen will come as an optional accessory and not be included as a mandate product with the iPad Pro, to keep the base price of the device intact. Kuo bases this analogy on studying various stylus-relates patents filed by Apple recently. Kuo is known for his strong predicaments, which are almost always right. He was the one who gave us the Apple Watch leaks, and the iPhone 6 leaks much earlier than its launches.
With respect to technology, he says that it will be very basic and will just only be an add-on for heavy corporate users. There won’t be any 3D writing capabilities, however, he believes that the future upgrades will see this feature. “We don’t foresee significant sales of an optional stylus in 2015 and forecast unit shipments of 2-2.5 million,” he told the publication. “But we believe that the stylus could improve the experience of users, however, and will likely help Apple develop specific customer groups such as the corporate sector and educational institutions.”
Usually Kuo, with his many strong contacts in Apple’s supply chain, cites sources to leak out information. This is the first time we see him take a different, purely speculative route. However, with his track record, he has seldom been wrong.
To recap on the rumors, the iPad Pro could come in either 12.2-inch screen size or with a screen measuring a mammoth 12.9-inches. Earlier, an alleged sketch of the iPad Pro was leaked by a French website. The sketch had revealed that the tablet will carry an ultra-thin form factor with a width between 6.9mm to 7.5mm, which is in line with earlier reports. It will house an A8X processor paired with 2GB of RAM, an anti-reflective screen coating, and come in different color options, much like iPhones.
It was also pegged to carry at least four stereo speakers two at the top and two at the bottom. While most of the details of the device are scarce at the moment, a report from last year claimed that the iPad Pro will come with a hybrid version of iOS which will have support for several OS X s features including multitasking and more. The latest leak is an alleged iPad mould image coming out of the China manufacturing unit.
