RCom has reportedly sold out its initial shipment of all iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C units. The carrier had launched an innovative plan where users did not have to pay any money upfront and would pay Rs 2,699 or Rs 2,999 as a monthly EMI to their credit card issuer for a period of 24 months and get unlimited national usage for the same period. Despite having its flaws, The Hindu Business Line reports that RCom had sold 2,500 units within the first three days and now does not have any stocks. This time Airtel, the second carrier to get the new iPhones, did not offer any reverse bundling scheme but offered its regular plans at 50 percent discount for those who bought the new iPhones from it.
The new iPhone 5S is so far turning out to be the best selling iPhone of all time for Apple India, which sold out its initial inventory of about 30,000 units within the first 24 hours. Apple is now reportedly eyeing Rs 1,000 crore from the sales of the iPhone 5S alone in India in this current quarter itself. It remains to be seen whether Apple can continue the current momentum and even whether it has enough stocks to achieve this target.
