Apple has slashed price of its two-year-old iPhone 5s in India. Launched in 2013 at Rs 53,500 for the 16GB variant, the smartphone is now available for Rs 24,999. The iPhone 5s, however, has been available for much lesser on e-commerce sites such as Amazon and Flipkart. Even though the iPhone 5s is a two-year-old model, the smartphone is a decent performer. Another good thing is that it is iOS 9 compatible, so you are not missing out on the latest software updates. Features such as fingerprint scanner and 8-megapixels are at par with the relatively new iPhone 6.
But the flip side is that the iPhone 5s, priced under Rs 25,000, comes with 16GB of storage, out of which user available storage is roughly 10GB. This is way less than what you would expect from a Rs 20,000-25,000 smartphone nowadays. Lack of expandable storage is one major drawback at this price point.

Another thing you need to consider that the iPhone 5s is nearing its end of shelf life. Despite being iOS 9 compatible, the smartphone may become obsolete sooner or later as when the new iPhones are announced. Therefore, you may not probably consider the iPhone 5s as a long-term investment.
On the other hand, the Android mid-rangers such as the OnePlus 2, Nexus 5X and HTC One A9 assure you of the latest specifications and features, and better performance. Thus, these look much more future-proof devices as compared to the iPhone 5s.
