As we inch closer to September, we come across a new Apple iPhone 6 rumor almost every day, and today is no different. A couple of reports from Chinese publications claim that the iPhone 6 5.5-inch variant will launch in December alongside the iWatch. They also claim that the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 variant won’t get a sapphire display.
One of the reports claim that in order for the 4.7-inch variant to boast a sapphire glass display, Apple’s suppliers should have started shipping it by the end of June. Only then would it be ready in time for launch in September. But that hasn’t happened, and hence the conclusion. The device will however use sapphire glass on its camera lens and fingerprint scanner just like the iPhone 5S.
The other report mentions that the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 variant will enter mass production sometime in September, which will give suppliers enough time to manufacture the sapphire display. Interestingly, the report also claims that the iPhone 6 phablet is likely to be unveiled alongside the much rumored iWatch. Apple’s first smartwatch, which was initially expected to be launched in October, has been reportedly delayed owing to production issues.
