A day after Apple announced that the iPhone 6 will launch in India on October 17, the official prices of the forthcoming smartphones are out. Prices for the iPhone 6 start at Rs 53,500, while the prices for the iPhone 6 Plus start at Rs 62,500. Preorders for the new iPhones kick off tomorrow.
The iPhone 6 16GB variant is priced at Rs 53,500, which is the same price tag at which the iPhone 5S was launched last year. The 64GB variant is priced at 62,500, and the 128GB variant is priced at Rs 71,500. As mentioned above, prices for the bigger iPhone 6 Plus start at Rs 62,500 for the 16GB variant. The 64GB variant is priced at Rs 71,500, while the 128GB variant is priced at 80,500. These pricing are in line with what leaked over the weekend.
Last night, Apple put all speculations to rest by announcing that the new iPhones will go on sale in India on October 17. The launch date is consistent with what BGR India reported last week. As mentioned above, preorders for the new iPhones will start from tomorrow onwards, and the phone will be available at Apple Authorized Resellers including Ingram Micro, Redington, Rashi Peripherals and Reliance. The company further revealed that those who preorder the new iPhones, will get their hands on the device on the night of October 16 itself.
The new iPhones are differentiated by their display size — 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch — and are powered by next-generation 64-bit A8 processor paired with an M8 coprocessor and 1GB of RAM. The smartphones also feature an 8-megapixel rear camera, 1.2-megapixel Facetime camera at the front, NFC and three storage options — 16GB, 64GB and 128GB. On the software front, the two new iPhones run on iOS 8.
