The publication cites sources familiar with the matter who claim that Apple will have a limited edition iPhone 6 model boasting sapphire glass display. It will be available in both 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch sizes and will be more expensive than standard variants. One of the major reasons for being expensive is the cost of manufacturing with a sapphire iPhone display costing around $16, while a Corning Gorilla Glass display costs only $3. The author says that the plans would only take place if Apple can get enough of the material. There is also the fact that there is hardly any time left with Apple set to unveil the iPhone 6 at an event reportedly scheduled on September 9.
