Apple has begun mass production of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, and inevitably a slew of leaks have surfaced online about the upcoming iPhone. The latest photo leaks give us our first good look at the iPhone 6s, while revealing the Force Touch motor assembly and camera design details. M.I.C Gadget shared an image showing off a fully assembled iPhone 6s giving us a first good look at the smartphone. The image shows that the iPhone 6s does not get much of a design change. The source claims that the smartphone measures at 7.1 mm thick, slightly thicker than the 6.9 mm iPhone 6 and matching the 7.1 mm iPhone 6 Plus. A separate photo leak also came from Nowhereelse.fr, and it shares images of what looks like the display assembly of the iPhone 6s. The photos have been sourced to a Chinese phone repair company GeekBar, and clearly shows the newly embedded Force Touch motor assembly inside the iPhone 6s. The images reiterate that there are going to be very little changes in terms of design.
Additionally, there’s another leak from All About Phones, which debunks previous rumors and states that the camera on the iPhone 6s will be protruding just like it does on the current iPhone 6. The camera ring looks exactly the same as the one used on the iPhone, which means that the camera will be protruding outside the body as well.
Past leaks of parts of iPhone 6s also say the same story about no design changes. Accessory makers won’t have much trouble as the upcoming flagship will focus more on spec upgrades. The front panel and the rear casing are reportedly being made with much stronger material to avoid the embarrassing Bendgate controversy from cropping up again this year.
Previous rumors indicate that the new iPhones will have an upgraded A9X quad-core processor and 2GB RAM. Furthermore, it will come with faster LTE, better battery, 12-megapixel rear camera that supports 4k videos and a 5-megapixel FaceTime camera that supports 1080p recording.
There are reports claiming that Apple might finally scrap the 16GB variant to make 32GB as the base storage option, but few reports state (albeit disappointingly) that the 16GB variant may just be continued.
Lastly, reports also suggest that Apple is quite bullish about the prospects of the forthcoming iPhones. The company has placed its biggest ever order to its manufacturers, between 85 million to 90 million units of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus combined.
