Apple iPhone 6S leaks are coming in thick and fast, and after yesterday s metal casing leak, today we have another leak at hand. Per 9To5Mac s Mark Gurman, the iPhone 6S will boast significantly faster LTE speeds, and better battery life as well. According to Gurman, Apple is opting for a Qualcomm MDM9635M chip for the iPhone 6S. This chip has been produced using a 20nm process, and boasts double the speed. In theory, the new chipset will allow the iPhone 6S to touch download speeds of up to 300MB/s over LTE. This however is only in theory, since users will most likely never see such speeds during regular use. Such speeds can only be achieved with carriers supporting LTE Advanced, which isn t very common. LTE Advanced is only available in South Korea and a few US cities. Also Read - Apple Watch SE GPS for Rs 24,900 until tonight: How to quickly avail this deal
There are however advantages of using this new LTE modem. For one, Apple is future-proofing the iPhone 6S for when LTE Advanced is more widely rolled out. It is also a move that has been triggered thanks to the company s rivals like Samsung already opting for Qualcomm s new LTE chip.
Another advantage of the new chip is said to be better battery life. The chip takes slightly less space and it s more energy-efficient thanks to that 20nm technology.
From what we have come across so far, there won t be a lot of changes on the iPhone 6S in terms of design. There will however be some changes underneath like the inclusion of Force Touch technology, A9X quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 12-megapixel rear camera, and an improved FaceTime camera capable of recording 1080p videos. There are also reports that Apple might finally scrap the 16GB variant altogether and the base variant would sport 32GB of internal storage.
