Apple iPhone 7 is months away from getting officially launched but leaks won t stop pouring in. You might have already heard and read a lot about Apple likely to ditch the 3.5 mm audio jack in favor of lightning connector for audio. Now the latest round of rumors suggest the Apple iPhone 7 may come water and dust proof capabilities. The new rumors also reveal the next generation iPhone would come with a pressure sensitive home button. The latest rumors come via the I4U News which cites Chinese-language stories from DigiTimes and Storm.mg. It is reported that the home button on the iPhone 7 will sit flush as Apple is working to make the device flatter, and is even working to remove or reduce the rear camera bump. The home button on the iPhone 7 will feel very similar to the home button on the OnePlus 2, which is essentially a capacitive button that also houses the fingerprint sensor. It may be recalled that Apple had filed for patents for a Liquidmetal home button that could enable future iPhones to come with pressure-sensitive home buttons. It is speculated that home button would change its shape when pressed but would come back to its old shape when thumb or finger is removed.
As far as the water and dust proof capabilities go, it s highly unlikely that the future iPhones be completely water and dust proof but come with some level of resistance, like its Android counterparts. The feature will help the future Apple flagship a stronger proposition against the premium Android smartphones. The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge come with IP68 rating, which means a smartphone is capable of surviving 5 feet (1.5 m) of water for 30 minutes. Apple had improved the water resistance even in the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, but it did not make any noise about it, most likely because it did not have the industry standard IP rating, which defines water and dust resistance.
Even though these are just rumors, but it looks like the iPhone 7 is going to be an exciting device with unique hardware features. The iPhone 7 is set to release later this year. Ahead of the official launch, we are likely to come across more interesting tidbits about the latest Apple flagship smartphone.
