Apple s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are set to go on sale in India on October 7. Before the sales start, e-commerce platforms like Flipkart and Amazon India have started taking pre-orders for the smartphones. Flipkart recently entered into a partnership with Apple, under which the e-commerce platform will directly source iPhones from Apple instead of relying on other third-party retailers. Amazon India has no such deal with Apple and has to rely on third-party sellers. Both Amazon and Flipkart are offering some exciting deals with the new iPhones. In case you are planning to buy the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus and wondering which of the e-commerce platforms is offering is a better deal, here s what you need to know. Let s first talk about the offers given by Flipkart. At the time of pre-ordering the iPhones, customers need to make upfront payment. The iPhone 7 base model is priced at Rs 60,000 and goes up to Rs 80,000 for the top-end model, whereas the iPhone 7 Plus starts at Rs 72,000 and goes up to Rs 92,000. While silver, rose gold, black and gold color options are available for pre-order, the much touted jet black variant went out of stock last night itself, as expected. The e-commerce giant is also promising to deliver the iPhones on the launch day itself — October 7 by 7PM. However, it is only in metro cities such as Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru with Flipkart s Express Delivery service only in select pin codes.
Flipkart is also exchange program wherein customers can get discounts up to Rs 24,500, bringing the iPhone 7 price down to Rs 35,500. Do note the exchange amount depends on the brand and model of your smartphone, and its age and condition. While the iPhone 6s Plus can fetch you exchange discount of Rs 24,500, iPhone 6s will get you Rs 21,500.
Moreover, Citibank credit card holders will also get Rs 10,000 cashback. However, the cashback be credited by January 8, 2017. Besides, Flipkart has tied up with several banks to offer you the iPhones on EMIs, including Kotak, Citibank and Axis Bank. You can purchase the iPhone 7 in maximum 24 EMIs at around 14-15 percent interest rates. ALSO READ: Apple, Flipkart partner for iPhone 7 online retail in India
Amazon, on the other hand, is also offering some schemes with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The company is giving an additional cashback on payments through HDFC Bank card between October 1 and October 5. There s a No Cost EMI (September 30 to October 7) offer under which customers will get cashback up to Rs 8,000 as Amazon.in Gift card. Moreover, users will also get 80 percent discount on Kindle eBooks, up to Rs 1,000. Users can avail Rs 500 in Amazon.in Gift Card when iPhone users sign up for a year of Prime membership. Amazon has also partnered HDFC Bank, Citibank, ICICI Bank, SBI Card, Standard Chartered Bank and Kotak Mahindra Bank among others to offer the iPhones on EMIs with interest rate between 12-15 percent.
That said, Amazon is not offering 32GB base variant of the iPhone 7, and has just listed 128GB and 256GB models. Also, only Black and Gold color variants are available on Amazon India at the time of filing this story. For the iPhone 7 Plus, Amazon India is only offering 256GB Black color variant, but at the time of filing this story, it had gone out of stock. Clearly, Amazon does not have enough stocks for pre-orders and will have to continue to rely on third-party resellers even after the iPhones go on sale next month.
Looking at the offers and schemes, Flipkart has an edge over Amazon for the iPhone 7 deals. Not only it is giving you the flexibility of colors and variants, it is also offering better savings with exchange offers and higher cashback amount.
