One of the talking points of the upcoming Apple iPhone 8 is said to be its overhauled design and the latest leak appears to confirm exactly that. Accessory maker MobileFun, which previously leaked the design details of the Samsung Galaxy S8, has now revealed details about the upcoming iPhone three months prior to its official release. The accessory maker has officially listed a screen protector for the iPhone 8 on its website. The listing reveals more than the 24.99 (approximately Rs 2,054)- priced Olixar iPhone 8 Full Cover Tempered Glass Screen Protector. While the description of the accessory indicates a curved display, image of the iPhone in the listing confirms a lot of reports from the past about the overall new design of the iPhone 8. The listing reveals the purported iPhone 8 with a 5.8-inch display with the top bezel ‘cut out’ for the front camera and sensors. The design also falls in line with other speculations from the past including the absence of a front fingerprint sensor. It is worth mentioning that Apple is long rumored to place its fingerprint sensor aka Touch ID beneath the display in a bid to slim down the bezels and make the iPhone more aesthetically pleasing. However, what is most attention-worthy is one of the hidden features of the iOS 11 as first hinted at by KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The analyst had claimed back in February that iOS 11 will have a feature called ‘Function Area’ which will be similar to the Touch Bar as seen on the MacBook Pro. If the accessory listing by MobileFun is anything to go by then the lack of physical home button and narrowed bezels also suggests that the rumored Function Area will sit at the bottom section.
To recall, the purported iPhone 8 is expected to go back to the glass sandwich design of the iPhone 4 model which will finally allow Apple to introduce wireless charging. In one of the latest leaks, the smartphone is shown to feature dual curved edges and boast a 5.8-inch OLED display with 3D Touch. While it is yet unclear how the Touch ID will be placed on the iPhone 8 given the near-bezel display, a recently granted patent suggests that the sensor will be embedded into the power button and allow users to unlock the device by simply placing their finger on the power button. Other rumored specifications about the iPhone 8 include a repositioned dual camera module and IP68 rating for an improved resistance against dust and water. The smartphone will be accompanied with the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus and will mark the 10th anniversary of the iPhone since the first launch.
