As is usually the case, the invite doesn’t hint at what the event has in store, other than the different hues of the Apple logo. In addition, there’s the caption that reads, “Let’s meet at our place”. While there is still no official word on what all the company will unveil, the event is set to be the inaugural affair at the company’s ‘Spaceship’ campus. This year, we expect a special anniversary-edition iPhone 8, which will follow the traditional announcing of the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus upgraded models. Given that it’s the tenth anniversary model, and the event is also being conducted at the Steve Jobs Theater, we might actually see rumor turning out to be true. The iPhone 8 is long-speculated to be the ‘most expensive iPhone’ ever, and undoubtedly is likely to boast more than just premium flagship smartphone features. Based on rumor, there could be an OLED display, coupled with dual-camera setup, an on-screen fingerprint sensor, and a 3D face recognition system as well. Since design will be a key focus area for iPhone 8, it’s expected to bring back the glass and metal sandwich design back. This was first seen on the iPhone 4. In addition, it could also bring in wireless charging capabilities. As for the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7S Plus, there will be minor but important upgrades over the current iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models. ALSO READ: Apple Watch update to bring support for new workouts
In addition to the new iPhones, Apple is also likely to introduce the Apple Watch 3. The latest iteration is expected to come with built-in GPS, making it a standalone smartwatch. However, as there is no official confirmation on it, we might have to wait for a few more leaks prior to the main event to arrive at more conclusions. There is also likelihood of announcements around the Apple TV, iOS 11, tvOS, watchOS, and perhaps a word or two on the company’s AR ambitions after the launch of ARKit.
