Apple is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its iPhone and as expected, there’s a lot of buzz around what to expect from the company this year. Already, there are loads of leaks and rumors to give you an idea about the iPhone 2017. Adding to that list is another leak that details the dimensions of the Apple iPhone 8.
According to iDropnews, the iPhone 8 will be slightly larger than the iPhone 7. The website claims the iPhone 8 will measure 143.59×70.94×7.57 mm, whereas the iPhone 7 featured dimensions of 138.3×67.1×7.1 mm. This also makes the iPhone 8 slightly thicker than the iPhone 7 Plus, which measures 158.2×77.9×7.3 mm. While the site claims the smartphone will have a smaller footprint (bezel-less display?), it does not comment on the weight. Considering the iPhone 8 will be bigger and thicker, it could also be heavier than the current iPhones. The iPhone 7 weighs 138 grams whereas the iPhone 7 Plus weighs 188 grams. The website has also published a slew of renders to elaborate the iPhone 8 design and how it compares with iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. From the renders, it appears that the iPhone 8 has a screen size equivalent to the iPhone 7 Plus thanks to a bezel-less display.
Renders also compare the iPhone 8 with rival Samsung’s flagship smartphones, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. In comparison, the Galaxy S8 dimensions are 148.9×68.1×8 mm, whereas the Galaxy S8+ has dimensions of 159.5×73.4×8.1 mm. If the renders are to believed, the iPhone 8 will be slimmer than the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+.
Even though a mere rumor, iDropnews’ prediction is quite precise and corroborates previous rumors around the iPhone 8 dimensions. The last round of leaks revealed the iPhone 8’s design and Touch ID embedded under the screen, which is believed to be an OLED one. The back has dual-cameras. The leak also revealed the top of the front panel has sensors, dual front cameras. The base has speaker, lightning port and a wireless charging module.
