We’re just a few days away from the momentous iPhone event where Apple will possibly unveil the iPhone 8, iPhone 7s, and iPhone 7s Plus. Of the lot, the iPhone 8 is the highlight of a radical design change and top notch features. In line with past rumors, the iPhone 8 is reportedly facing manufacturing issues and will ship at a later time than the usual schedule.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal (via Tech Crunch), the manufacturing process for the iPhone 8 has been delayed by a month now. The reason behind this delay is said to be due to the process of integrating OLED displays on the iPhone 8 with the Touch ID embedded underneath it. However, Apple wasn’t successful with this new venture, and the report states that the iPhone 8 will indeed come without the Touch ID sensor up front. Recalling past rumors and leaks, the iPhone 8 has been pictured with an all-display design and the absence of the physical Touch ID. The delay continues with Apple’s process of integrating the display and touch panel separately instead of sandwiching them together.

News of Apple delaying shipments of the iPhone was brought up in the past by reliable sources like KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He had predicted an early 2018 timeframe for Apple to reach a stable order and supply balance for the iPhone 8. Kuo had also given an idea on why the iPhone 8 could be priced as high as $999. For the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, Apple would be using LCD displays and are paying $45 and $55 respectively. The iPhone 8’s OLED display, on the other hand is being supplied by Samsung. The South Korean giant is reportedly charging between $120 and $130 per unit for the iPhone 8’s OLED display. Although the iPhone 8 will possibly suffer shipping delays, the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus should arrive as per the usual schedule with an expected availability date of September 22. Apple will probably start accepting pre-orders for the iPhones by September 15. ALSO READ: Beyond iPhone 8 on September 12, these are the Apple announcements we expect
