Leaks surrounding the Apple iPhone 8 are really heating up even though we are a few months away from the official launch. From details about the design to specifications, almost all the aspects of the smartphone have been leaked. Though there have been contradictory reports, we have a fair idea about what to expect from Apple’s ‘anniversary special’ smartphone. A new leak corroborates a bunch of previous leaks about the display size and placement of the TouchID. According to a leaked slide doing the round on the social media and initially reported by Priceraja, the Apple iPhone 8 will come with the TouchID integrated into the display. Additionally, the display size will be the largest of any iPhone so far – 5.8-inch. The details are a part of a presentation slide which was revealed at an ongoing mobile phone conference in China. The 5.8-inch OLED display will come with the 2.5D curved glass and 3D Touch. There’s no information provided on what part of the screen will support the 3D Touch. The design flaunts a dual-curved edge display with slimmer top and bottom bezels. Also Read - Apple in tussle with Russian govt over App Store payment options
While the new leak confirms with the TouchID integration into the display, there have been several rumors and leaks in the past suggesting the same. Though some reports did suggest a TouchID button on the rear panel. So far, Apple has been relying on the familiar physical home button to house the TouchID, but with the iPhone 8 the home button is expected to be gone. However, the latest patents acquired by Apple point at something entirely different. They reveal TouchID sensor on the power button, which means there is now a third possibility of Apple shifting to TouchID on the power- button instead of the display. Though the patent did not reveal any details, the technology might be for a device other than the iPhone 8. Clearly, despite the numerous leaks, there is still quite a lot of mystery surrounding the upcoming Apple smartphone.
Along with the iPhone 8, Apple is also expected to announce the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. All the three phones will come with glass backs and support wireless charging. Additionally, they will also come with IP68 rating and be water and dust resistant. There are a lot of expectations from the 10th-anniversary special phones and clearly the excitement is increasing as the time for the launch nears.
