Looks like we may not have to wait as long for the iPhone 8 as we thought. As opposed to the earlier speculated launch of smartphone at the end of the year, a new report walks in with news that the iPhone 8 may in fact be launched in September, along with the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus. According to the latest research from Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis, Christopher Hemmelgarn, Thomas O’Malley, and Jerry Zhang, Apple iPhone 8 will be launched in September, however, the majority of stock may not be available until later in the fourth quarter. Essentially, the prediction suggests that Apple‘s tenth-anniversary iPhone, which has been variously dubbed as the iPhone 8, iPhone X, iPhone Pro, or iPhone Edition, will be available in limited quantities in September. However, shipping estimates could slip to several weeks out just minutes after pre-orders begin. By the sounds of it, Apple’s first iPhone with an OLED display could possibly pull off the demands like the iPhone 7 Plus in Jet Black, which soon after hitting the shelves, went out of stock in many countries. Suppliers generally had good things to say about the upcoming iPhone 8 launch (for our purposes iPhone 7s, iPhone 7s Plus, and iPhone Pro) as new features drive a more complicated manufacturing process and higher ASPs. We now believe that all three devices will feature wireless charging and will all be launched in the normal September timeframe, although the majority of iPhone Pro volumes may not be available until Q4, the Barclays research notes, which was obtained by MacRumors.

This Barclays prediction contradicts a few reports from the recent past. First of all, it has long been rumored that the iPhone 8 will be announced along with the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus, however, it was expected to go on sale only in the latter part of the year.

Second, up till now, only the iPhone 8 was speculated to feature the wireless charging capabilities. However this prediction anticipates all three devices to come with the wireless charging feature. RELATED: Apple iPhone 8 to feature curved OLED display made by Samsung: Report

In addition to that, the analysts have also made a few other predictions around the smartphone, which somewhat echo the forecasts by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Barclays said the iPhone 8 will feature a 5.8-inch display with 5.15 inches of usable screen, similar to what Kuo believes. It expects Touch ID to be embedded in the display, and the remaining space could be for virtual buttons. The analysts also believe the device will have wireless charging, but wireless charging accessories will be sold separately, which is in line with a recent Forbes report.

Further, the analysts believe iPhone 8 will come with stacked logic board design, which will provide more space for a larger battery and other components, as also said by Kuo previously. Other features Barclays expects include a front-facing 3D sensor module, the same dual camera setup as the iPhone 7 Plus, and a film-based Force Touch solution.

Besides the Barclays report, there was another important piece of information about the iPhone 8, that was recently revealed. Reportedly, The curve on iPhone 8 s display may be a lot more subtle than we imagined. ALSO READ: Apple iPhone 8 s curved display to be gentler than the Galaxy S7 edge: Report

According to a report in Nikkei Asian Review, according to which the advanced OLED screen made by Samsung for the iPhone 8 will have slightly curved edges. The curve will be gentler than screens in Samsung s Galaxy S7 Edge handsets, the report notes. This is partly due to the challenges of making curved glass covers to match screens, according to the source.

Basically, while the curved screen will allow a viewable area of about 5.2 inches, and may have a slight curve to follow the 2.5D edges of the glass face, it will not offer significant new functions. The report also revealed that Chinese companies Biel Crystal and Lens Technology will manufacture the glass backs for the new handset. The same companies together with Foxconn will manufacture the front glass covers, as well.
