Apple is set to launch three new iPhones this year. Out of that, two iPhones are said to follow the path of the iPhone X and feature OLED screens, while the third variant is expected to come equipped with an LCD screen. Apple is reported to offer the LCD iPhone as an affordable variant. Leading up to the launch however, many have suspected this variant to be the last iPhone to come equipped with an LCD. But now a new report suggests otherwise. According to The Bell, Apple has recently appointed LG to develop LCD screens for an iPhone that could possibly launch next year. This could mean that Apple will most likely offer a successor to the affordable LCD iPhone variant it is planning to unveil this year. The report claims that LG now will be undertaking development of both OLED and LCD screens for Apple. While Apple would like to equip all its iPhones with OLEDs, the company has been facing problems getting hold of a supplier, who can meet its high demands. This includes LG as well, who was reported to struggle with OLED shipments for the iPhone X last year. Besides that, another reason why Apple is sticking with LCD screens is because it has noticed them to do well so far. Good examples of this are Apple s iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, which account for a higher market share compared to the iPhone X.

The three new Apple iPhones are expected to be unveiled in September. It was also reported recently that Apple could launch a dual-SIM variant of the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone. However, that model is touted to be exclusive for the China market. The LCD iPhone will also be boasting a single camera at the back, as opposed to the dual-rear camera setup expected on the other two models. This will allow Apple to further cut down on cost. The new LCD iPhone is expected to be priced around $600.
