Apple had a bad start to the commercial launch of its prized iPhone X. Today, the iPhone X will go on sale for the first time across retail stores and via online platforms. However, it has been reported that 313 iPhone X models were stolen from a UPS truck in San Francisco outside an Apple store. CNET reports that the total value stolen amounted to $370,000 (approximately Rs 23,900,600 ). In the US, the iPhone X starts at $999 (approximately Rs 64,600) for the base variant.
The report states that three men wearing hoodies broke into a UPS truck, which was parked outside the Apple store in San Francisco. These men had come in a white Dodge van, and the incident occurred between 11:15AM and 11:30AM PT. The UPS truck was delivering 313 iPhone X models to the Apple Store. The iPhone X suspects haven’t been caught yet. It is reported that the UPS driver had locked the cargo area where the iPhones were kept after parking it outside the Apple store.
It was actually a janitor who noticed the three men stealing the iPhones and shoving them inside the white Dodge van. It is also said that the janitor was able to capture a photo of the theft. The situation is currently under investigation from UPS in collaboration with the police. ALSO READ: Apple iPhone X first impressions: When you have to control your emotions
