Apple launched its iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR smartphones at an event back in September. While the XS and XS Max are flagships through and through, the XR is a slightly toned-down smartphone that Apple pitched as the iPhone for everyone. But it seems that buyers aren’t really that interested in Apple’s latest and greatest smartphone.
Over the past few weeks, multiple reports claimed that iPhone XR isn’t selling as well as Apple had hoped, which led to the company cutting back on shipping estimates and considering lowering the price of the smartphone in some regions. While Apple recently refuted these reports, claiming that the XR has been the best-selling iPhone ever since it launched. However, if the company’s latest action is any indication, it seems that’s not the case.
Apple has announced an offer for the iPhone XR, under which customers can purchase the latest ‘affordable’ smartphone at a reduced price of $449, provided they trade-in an iPhone 7 Plus towards the purchase. In fact, Apple has put up a full-width banner on the top of their official’s website’s homepage, prominently advertising the limited-time promotion. That said, so far, the offer seems to be limited to the United States only.
It’s worth mentioning that Apple iPhone XR originally costs $749, so that’s a discount of $300 that Apple is offering on its smartphone. Apple isn’t exactly known for offering such steep discounts on its products, so it can be assumed that the iPhone XR is really struggling to gain traction with customers. Interestingly, if that’s the case with the ‘affordable’ iPhone XR, it can be assumed that the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, which are more expensive, aren’t really selling that well either.

How much does this promotion helps in increasing iPhone XR’s sales, is something that remains to be seen.
