Apple has launched its 2018 iPhone line-up at an event in Cupertino, California. The three new smartphones – the iPhone XS, the iPhone XS Max, and the iPhone XR – will be replacing last year’s Apple iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. The key highlights of the new iPhones is that they all feature front and back glass design, and an edge-to-edge display with a notch on top. Apple has now dropped physical Touch ID fingerprint scanner, as there is no new iPhone with home button.

When we compare the iPhone XS with the iPhone X, these are the differences you’ll find in these two Apple smartphones.

iPhone XS vs iPhone X: Pricing and Availability

The entry-level 64GB storage model of the iPhone XS will cost you Rs 99,900. The 256GB storage variant is priced at Rs 1,14,900. Lastly, Apple has introduced a 512GB storage version for the first time, which will cost Rs 1,34,900.

As for the iPhone X, the 10th anniversary smartphone from Apple was introduced last year in India at Rs 89,000 starting price for the 64GB storage option. It also offered a 256GB storage option which was priced at Rs 1,02,000. Unfortunately, Apple has officially discontinued the iPhone X and has removed it from its website. Having said that, the iPhone X is still available through offline and various e-commerce websites.

For the iPhone XS, the smartphone will go on pre-order from this Friday, September 14, and will be available on sale in stores starting September 28.

iPhone XS vs iPhone X: Screen and Design

Apple has kept the same design for the iPhone XS as it was with iPhone X. There have been some refinements in the overall look with new colors and better stronger glass protection on the front as well as on the back.

The iPhone XS retains the same screen size of 5.8-inch as the iPhone X. It features upgraded OLED Super Retina display (1125×2234 pixels) with the same notch as the iPhone X. The screen also supports HDR10 to make the content lively. The phone also supports 3D Touch like the predecessor. The new iPhone XS is now boasts of a new stainless steel frame.

As for the 2017 iPhone X, the handset features a 5.8-inch AMOLED display and Apple calls it Super Retina display. It comes with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio with a notch, and 1125×2436 pixels resolution. The new iPhones are also IP68 water and dust resistant, and include wireless charging feature.

iPhone XS vs iPhone X: Processor, RAM and Battery

The new iPhone XS is powered by Apple’s A12 Bionic chipset which is built on 7nm fabrication process. It has a hexa-core CPU, with 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. The chipset also has a quad-core GPU to offer better graphics performance. There is also an 8-core dedicated Neural Engine for on-device machine learning which can now run 9 times faster. Apple says the new chipset can launch the apps 30 percent faster.

Apple didn’t reveal RAM details for the iPhone XS, but according to reports it’s been upgraded to 4GB. The 2017 iPhone X had 3GB RAM and came with Apple’s A11 Bionic chipset onboard.

There is no information on the Apple iPhone XS battery as yet, but during the presentation Apple said that it has increased the battery power, and now the iPhone XS will give you half an hour more than the iPhone X in a day. As for the iPhone X, it packed 2716mAh battery last year.
