This morning s report about Apple giving its MacBook Pro lineup a minor upgrade has turned out to be true. Moments ago, Apple announced that its lineup of MacBook Pro with Retina Display has been given a bump in speed. It has also slashed prices of the MacBook Pro with Retina Display as well as the standard MacBook Pro.
The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display will now have 8GB of RAM as standard across all variants. Earlier, the 256GB and 512GB storage variants came equipped with 8GB of RAM, while the entry-level 128GB model had 4GB of RAM. These refreshed laptops will be powered by faster Intel Haswell processors (2.6GHz Core i5, and 2.8GHz Core i7).
In terms of pricing, the 128GB variant will now be available for Rs 94,900 (down from Rs 99,900), 256GB will be available for Rs 109,900 (down from Rs 114,900), and the 512GB variant will be available for Rs 129,900 (down from Rs 134,900)
The 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display variants will now feature 16GB of RAM as standard. In essence, the 256GB variant has been upgraded to match the 512GB model. These new variants will be powered by Intel Core i7 processors in 2.2GHz and 2.5GHz varieties.
As far as pricing is concerned, the 256GB variant will now be available for Rs 144,900 (down from Rs 149,900), while the 512GB variant sees a massive price drop from Rs 199,900 to Rs 179,900.
Apple has also announced that the standard 13-inch MacBook Pro, which it claims is a popular model with Windows switchers, has got a Rs 11,000 price cut and is now available for Rs 78,900.
