Apple is thinking about launching a bundled subscription service, something that is similar to Amazon Prime. This new service will offer original TV shows that Apple is working on along with music streaming service, magazines, and movies. The bundle will make it easier for users to get varied content under one subscription instead of managing different subscriptions separately. According to the report by The Information, this is likely to be inspired by what Amazon offers with its Amazon Prime subscription service while offering video, music, news and express shipping to its subscribers. The report pointed out that this new service could give the company a boost in its effort to develop a revenue stream with the help of the subscription model. This will also reduce Apples dependence on the number of hardware units that it sells including iPhones. To build the service, the company is likely to launch its news subscription service next year along with digital magazines service Texture that it acquired earlier this year. It is likely that the company will include the video content in the subscription that it is working hard to produce while adding Apple Music to the mix. Also Read - Beware! Watch: Apple iOS 12 features
There is no indication on when Apple is planning to launch its news service. The company is also likely to allow potential subscribers to sign up separately to all of these services. However, it’s possible that the company will discount the bundled offering to entice users to sign up for the deal instead of separate services.
This service is likely to span all the operating systems that Apple currently supports including macOS, tvOS, and iOS. The company may also add iCloud storage subscription to the mix but that is speculation at this time. The company has not issued any official statement about any such subscription service at the time of writing.
If the company manages to launch the service that it envisions then it is certain that Apple will take the competition to the industry heavyweights including Amazon, Netflix, Spotify, and even YouTube with its comprehensive offering.
