Apple Music for Android gets User Profiles, Voice Commands like iOS 11

Apple brings some new nifty features to Apple Music for Android, just like on iOS 11.

Apple released iOS 11 for all users earlier this week which bring a host of new refinements and user enhancements. Much of it is also seen in the Apple Music app. However, some of the nifty new features from Apple Music on iOS 11 are now being rolled out to the Android app as well.

One of the major features introduced to the Apple Music app this year is the Social profiles. Apple Music users can now make a user profile and share it publicly with other users or friends for them see what you have been listening to. The Spotify-like social profile feature of Apple Music is now available on Android, iOS, and desktop. While users who recently updated to iOS 11 would already have the features onboard, for Android, users can update the Apple Music app with its latest version available on Google Play Store to get the new features.

Moreover, just as Siri has gotten smarter with iOS 11, it can now executive Apple Music commands intuitively, Apple has optimized the music streaming app with support for Google Assistant voice commands. This means a user can now use “OK Google” voice commands to play a song across the Apple Music library or on Beats 1 Radio. Besides, the Apple Music app on Android now also get a “Recently Played” widget to add to your smartphone screen. If you’re on Android Nougat or Android Oreo, quick shortcuts similar to 3D touch on Apple devices are now available even on Android. The latest Apple Music app update is also optimized for quick access to search and Beats 1 Radio right from the screen. Simply long press the Apple Music app icon and you will get the quick shortcuts. Apple introduced the Apple Music app on Android back in 2015, where Google Play Music and Spotify have already established themselves as the dominant streaming apps.
