Apple patent Apple Pencil holder for ipad

Apple is said to host an event this month which will be focused on the launch of new Pads. At this event, Apple is rumored to launch a new lineup of iPads ranging from a new 10.5-inch iPad Pro model, a 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch iPad Pro 2 models and a 7.9-inch iPad Pro model. In addition the new iPad lineup, Apple will also reportedly launch the Apple Pencil 2. A new patent application as been spotted online that reveals a holder for the Apple Pencil for an iPad. Apple Pencil so far does not have a holder as such to keep it attached to an iPad. Also Read - Common marketing gimmicks that brands should avoid to exploit consumers

The patent, as spotted by Patently Apple, not only refers to the design meant for iPads but for iPhones as well. The figures of the patents show something rather simple like a cover for the iPad with a loop on the side where the Apple Pencil can be attached to. The same goes for the Smart Keyboard which also has a small loop on the side where the Apple Pencil can be kept. While there has been a mention for the Apple Pencil to come with support for iPhones as well, there aren t any figures supporting it though. Nevertheless, it that was to be the case, then the cover for the iPhone will also follow the same design and technique.

Apple mentions in the patent that the accessory device includes a retaining feature arranged to retain an object that can be used to interact with the electronic device . Apple further explains that this loop attached to the cover can be stretchable so that it can grasp the object with a retaining force that depends upon the size and shape of the object and elastic properties of the stretchable material. The fact that this loop is stretchable serves as an advantage for objects of varying sizes and shapes that can be accommodated by the closed loop.

The material used for this loop to hold the Apple Pencil could be formed of a woven fabric that is designed in such a way that it will minimize or prevent tearing up. This woven fabric would further be either coated or laminated with a polymeric material.

This isn t the first time a patent has showed up indicating a holder for the Apple Pencil. Previous patents dating back to December showed evidence of Apple working on Apple Pencil for the iPhone. The Apple Pencil 2 has also been rumored to come with upgraded features like support for more apps. ALSO READ: Apple Pencil 2 rumored to launch in March alongside new iPad Pro models

Even though the patents are consistent, it does not confirm that Apple will introduce something like this anytime sooner. Many patents are usually filed and granted but we do not see it being executed, which is the case for major of the companies. This cover would essentially work like the Smart Keyboard Case for the iPad Pro. Patently Apple also mentions that an Apple in February showed the next generation Smart Keyboard case would come with new function keys for social media and more.
