Apple is expected to launch the first of the two iPhone 6 variants in September. The company seems to be confident that the forthcoming flagship will do extremely well. Taiwan s Business Weekly claims that the Cupertino-based company has placed an order for 68 million iPhone 6 units, with production set to start later this month. The size of the order not only shows how confident Apple is about its flagship device, but also indicates how it wants to avoid a situation where it can t keep up with the demand. Last year, retailers ran out of stock of the iPhone 5S, especially the gold variant. The order also happens to be twice as large as the order Apple placed for the iPhone 5 in 2012. The publication further adds that mass production of the iPhone 6 is set to begin later this month. This is consistent with earlier reports, which too have mentioned a similar time frame, culminating in a launch sometime in September.
As mentioned above the smaller 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is set to be launched towards the end of September followed by the 5.5-inch iPhone 6. The new iPhones will feature some design changes including curved edges, a power button on the side rather on the right top-corner and elongated volume rocker instead of the circular volume buttons. Apple is also said to be using Sapphire for the display, which will make it nearly indestructible. It will also be introducing features like optical image stabilization and higher storage capacities on the bigger iPhone 6.
