Apple recently updated its MacBook Pro lineup which features Intel s 8th-generation Core processors and a quieter keyboard. The previous generation model had a flaw in its mechanism where dust would accumulate under the keys. Apple acknowledged the flaw and launched a repair program last month, but a lot of users are still left wondering if the problem is fixed. Well, an iFixit teardown reveals that Apple has redesigned the keyboard to fix the problematic keyboard. The teardown reveals that Apple has added a new silicone membrane under each key to keep the dust particles and dirt away from lodging inside and making the keys unusable. The new mechanism was spotted when iFixit dismantled the new 15-inch MacBook Pro keyboard. Below is the video showing the new silicone membrane on each key. The interesting thing to note here is the resemblance to an Apple patent that was published earlier this year in March. It described a number of ways the keyboard design could prevent dust from getting under the keys, causing mechanical issues. The method described using a guard structure extending from the key cap for funneling the contaminants away.

Sadly, the new keyboards won t be solving the sticky key problem. As of now, we can t assure if the new method will be successful to make the MacBook keyboard better, and problem free. It remains to be seen how this new mechanism would help in the long run.

Meanwhile, the new 13-inch MacBook Pro and the 15-inch MacBook Pro are priced at Rs 149,990 and Rs 199,990, respectively. Both laptops will go on sale through Apple authorized resellers later this month. One of the highlights is the T2 Chip that brings enhanced security system, while also enabling Hey Siri voice wake.
