Two days ago, we reported about a few Apple iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max users facing issues with charging on their devices. Users complained that their iPhones were failing to detect the lightning cable when being in the standby mode. In order to start charging, users had to tap the screen or press the standby button. In some cases, unplugging the cable and plugging it back again was required. Now, Apple is providing a fix for that problem in second beta version of the iOS 12.1 update it is rolling out today.

But that’s not it either. According to MacRumors, the new update also comes with plenty of new features, one of the most prominent being support for eSIM. The feature allows users to get benefits of a secondary SIM on the iPhone, without actually having a dual SIM slot. However, your carrier needs to provide support for the features as well, which might happen soon.

Besides that, the new update also brings in 70 more emojis for the iPhone. The list includes new characters with new hairstyles, new smiley faces that come in frozen face, party face, pleading face and more. There are also new emojis added for sports and animals as well.

The iOS 12.1 beta update also introduces the much-touted real-time Depth Control feature, which lets you control the depth of field in real time while taking the picture in Portrait Mode. Currently, the feature is only accessible while editing the picture, after taking it. Group FaceTime is also being added back again. The feature was omitted from the final release of the iOS 12.
