March 27 is turning out to be another exciting day in the tech industry with lots action expected. Huawei is holding an event in Paris to launch the P20 flagship smartphones, Xiaomi is likely unveiling the Mi MIX 2S, Oppo is launching the F7 in Mumbai, and now Apple has also sent out invites for a spring event on March 27.
The event is scheduled to take place in Chicago at the Lane Tech College Prep High School, and it will be focussed on creative education. The invite reads, “Join us to hear new creative ideas for teachers and students.” The invitation has Apple logo with strokes and a caption Let s take a field trip.
Over the past few months, we have been hearing rumors about new affordably priced iPads, and it being an education-oriented event, Apple might take the stage to announce the new iPads. The strokes on the invite hint that the iPads could also support Apple Pencil. Now, what exactly Apple plans to unveil is something that we will only know on March 27.
Meanwhile, Apple also has another big event lined up, the annual worldwide developer conference WWDC 2018. The conference is set to take place between June 4-June 8, and Apple is expected to unveil the next version of iOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS. Apple might also announce improvements to a broad range of developer APIs including SiriKit, HomeKit, HealthKit, GymKit, MusicKit, ResearchKit and Core ML.
WWDC has always seen software based announcement, but if rumors are to be believed, this year could be different as hardware could be a major announcement. Apple could unveil a new entry-level MacBook with Retina display, an updated iPad model with edge-to-edge display and Face ID. There are also rumors that Apple will announce the successor to iPhone SE at the event, which will be manufactured by Wistron in India.
