The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are finally official, and while they are yet to go on sale, new details about next year s iPhone have emerged. This year, Apple did not go for major design changes, instead, it upgraded under the hood hardware with faster processor, doubled onboard storage, improved cameras and more. One of the big changes in this year s iPhones is the removal of legacy 3.5 headphone jack, and it s not likely to come back ever. Yes, the iPhone 7-series look exactly the same as iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s-series, but a new report claims that next 2017 iPhones will come with a completely new design. Citing insider sources, NY Times reports, Apple is likely to continue making iPhones without headphone jacks, and next year s iPhone will have a full-screen face with the virtual button built directly into the screen, according to two people at the company who spoke on condition of anonymity because the product details are private. This also means that in the same size and dimensions, Apple can fit a larger display by eliminating the bottom bezel. However, this is not the first time we re hearing about the 2017 iPhones. Also, while the source quoted in the report doesn t offer any further insights, the biggest mystery here will be to see how Apple plans to deal with the Touch ID fingerprint scanner, which comes embedded inside the home button. The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus come with a non-clickable home button, but next year Apple could replace the hardware button with an onscreen implementation. While details about its working are scarce at the moment, one likely solution seems to be using an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Other workaround could be to replace the fingerprint scanner with iris scanner for biometric authentication, similar to what we have seen on Samsung Galaxy Note 7, or on Microsoft Lumia 950 / 950 XL. Next year Apple could also finally move away from LCD panels to OLED ones. A recent report claimed that Apple is likely to launch three devices next year a 4.7-inch model, a 5.5-inch model and a premium iPhone with 5.5-inch or larger curved OLED display. There were also rumors that the iPhone 7 will come with full HD display (instead of HD) and iPhone 7 Plus will come with QHD display (instead of full HD). And that could happen next year. Other features such as wireless charging from a distance of up to 15 feet, improved water resistance, all-glass panel instead of aluminum body are other things expected on next year s iPhone. It s just the beginning of the rumor mill and with a year to go for the next iPhone release, we expect more leaks as time progresses.
