The rumors started pouring in after the 12.9-inch iPad Pro displayed an availability date of April 4, Apple World Today reports. Apart from the iPad Pro, Apple is also believed to be unveiling a 9.7-inch iPad, and also a brand-new 12.9-inch model with a seemingly bezel-less display. While Apple is predictably mum on the event date, reports claim that this April 4 event will be held at the new 175-acre Apple Park. This ring-shaped building with a 2.8 million-square-foot main building campus is completely decked with curved glass panel. The event itself is likely to be held at the 1,000 seater Steve Jobs theater.
Apple s current line of tablets includes the iPad Pro with 12.9-inch and 9.7-inch screens, a 9.7-inch iPad Air 2, and the iPad Mini 2 and iPad Mini 4 with smaller displays. Per the rumors, the 10.5-inch iPad is expected to hog the most limelight. Based on the leaks, this upcoming iPad will feature a bezel-less display, and is also expected to become the first iOS device to come without a physical home button. The Touch ID sensor will instead be placed below the display. ALSO READ: Apple AirPods Review
The iPad is said to measure 7.5mm in thickness and is said to come with support for Apple Pencil. Note here though, that the iPad Pro was earlier rumored to come in 10.9-inch and not 10.5-inch screen size. The new 10.5-inch iPad Pro is expected to feature the same footprint as the present 9.7-inch iPad Pro, however the top bezel will remain for the FaceTime camera.
The 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2 model could most likely feature a 12-megapixel rear camera and True Tone display akin to the 9.7-inch iPad Pro. Under the hood, the 12.9-inch iPad Pro is said to feature A10X processor. The 9.7-inch iPad Pro 2 model, on the other hand, is expected to be powered by the A9X chip.
