It’s only been almost two months since the release of Apple’s 2017 iPhone models. However, rumors about the next-generation iPhones have already started pouring in. This year, Apple launched the iPhone 8 series and the anniversary edition iPhone X. Now, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that Apple will launch three iPhone models next year.

First reported by MacRumors, Kuo says that the iPhone models will feature both OLED and LCD displays as seen this year. The lineup would include a 5.8-inch OLED model possibly an upgrade to the iPhone X. A 6.5-inch OLED model is also in tow which will possibly be the plus version of the upgraded iPhone X. There will also be a 6.1-inch iPhone with an LCD display. Also, all three iPhone models are said to feature the iPhone X-like full display design and sport the TrueDepth camera.

With a TrueDepth camera, the 2018 iPhone models would presumably feature Face ID and Animoji as well. Kuo also shared insights on Apple’s production cycle for its iPhones next year. The 6.1-inch LCD iPhone is said to be Apple’s offering of an iPhone at affordable rates with high-end features. This model is expected to be priced between $649 (approximately Rs 42,500)and $749 (approximately Rs 49,000). The iPhone X retails at $999 (approximately Rs 65,400) in the US, and starts at Rs 89,000 for the base variant in India. Apple is expected to ship 120 million units in the second half of 2018, which would be an increase from 80 million units shipped this year. With its production beefed up, KGI Securities confirm better sales of iPhones next year. Kuo had previously predicted TrueDepth camera and Face ID on two OLED iPhones next year. He also said that Apple would add more parts of stainless steel frame in 2018 iPhone models for better quality of data transmission. With addition of the stainless steel frame, the 2018 iPhones could go through a design change. Details on how data transmission would be improved is unclear at the moment. Kuo’s predictions have been largely affirmative so far, but it’s still too early determine that these would be Apple’s plans. RELATED: Apple to release two OLED iPhones next year: Ming-Chi Kuo
