Apple to release two OLED iPhones next year: Ming-Chi Kuo

Apple is also said to add extra parts of stainless steel frame on 2018 iPhones for better data transmission.

Even as the iPhone X is slowly settling down after its global sale, reports on the 2018 iPhones are already circulating. At this point, it’s only rumors and speculations which are still very fresh. KGI Securities’ analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has consistently predicted on the 2017 iPhones quite correctly has been spilling some early information on the 2018 models as well. Apple introduced OLED display with the iPhone X this year which also features an edge-to-edge design. Next year, Apple is expected to launch two iPhone models with OLED displays. However, it isn’t known if these iPhones would also feature an edge-to-edge display. Kuo also shares information on some design changes for the 2018 iPhone models. Apple is said to make some alterations on the stainless steel metal frame used on the iPhone X for better quality of data transmission.

The iPhone X is equipped with four parts of stainless steel frame. Apple will reportedly add more parts for next year’s iPhones. With more additions of the stainless steel frame, the 2018 iPhones could possibly go through a design change. Details on how data transmission would be improved is unclear at the moment. Recently, Kuo has predicted some more on the 2018 iPhone models. Apple is expected to replace Touch ID fingerprint recognition with Face ID on its iPhones next year. While the TrueDepth camera will continue on the iPhones next year, he says that this technology will not extend to the rear camera. Apple took a big leap in the company’s history this year with the ‘radical’ iPhone X. Although next year may not witness such a change, but the focus will possibly be laid on further improving technologies introduced this year.
