Talking to ET, a Vodafone India spokesperson said, “Vodafone India will offer iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, the most advanced iPhones ever, beginning on October 16.” Registrations for the new iPhones will start from October 9 on Vodafone s website. However, this is not the first time, Vodafone had earlier tied up with Apple in January this year to sell the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Along with the launch of these smartphones, the telecom operator had introduced tariff plans based on instalments. Bharti Airtel s company official told ET that they are working to tie-up with Apple and it will be finalized shortly. “We would want to offer the 4G on iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus,” the company official added. It s more likely that Airtel would also bundle its high-speed broadband services as a part of the package.
Apple has been relatively quicker in terms of launching its smartphones in India. And with the gap between US launch and India launch reducing, it does indicate that Apple is focusing on the emerging markets such as India.
The highlight of new iPhones is the 3D Touch display, improved and faster hardware, higher resolution cameras and new Touch ID sensor. The iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus are differentiated by their display size 4.7-inch HD display and 5.5-inch full HD display.
They are powered by an upgraded 64-bit A9 processor paired with an M9 motion coprocessor and 2GB of RAM. The cameras have been bumped too. There is a 12-megapixel rear camera with true-tone LED flash and 5-megapixel Facetime camera at the front. One noticeable difference is that the iPhone 6S Plus camera also includes optical image stabilization.
