A launch in February will be in line with earlier estimates of a launch on Valentine s Day (February 14). But more recently, Apple s Retail SVP Angela Ahrendts told retail employees in a video message that the Apple Watch will be coming in spring. According to the ET report, Apple is treating India as a priority market after initial studies show the Apple Watch has the potential to become a bestseller in India, after iPhones and iPads. The Cupertino-based company recently released WatchKit for developers to create apps for the wearable device, and it is also encouraging Indian app developers to participate.
While the Indian wearable market is relatively small, experts claim that a device like Apple Watch could give it the boost it requires. Nearly one lakh units were shipped this year, and with the right boost the market has the potential to grow five times.
As far as the pricing is concerned, it won t come cheap. While Apple revealed that prices will start at $349, recent reports claim that the stainless steel variant of the Apple Watch will be priced around $500, while the gold variant will be priced between $4,000 and $5,000.
The Apple Watch will be available in three variants Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport and Apple Watch Edition. Each variant is available in two screen sizes 1.5-inch and 1.65-inch and also comes with a myriad of customization options. It has a square design, with rounded corners and with a crown on the right size, which is used for navigation. The smartwatch not only gives you notifications from your smartphone, but also boasts sensors to keep track of your fitness tracking activities. The Apple Watch is compatible with iPhone 5 and above.
