At the ongoing Spring Forward event, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced a new milestone. Cook said that the Cupertino-giant had sold 700 million iPhones till date.
Cook revealed that the company reached the milestone after launching the first iPhone in 2007. In the last quarter Apple was the number one company in the world in terms of shipments. The iPhone accounted for 70 percent of sales, as Apple sold through 74.5 million units during the three-month period ended December 27. This is a 49 percent growth year-over-year.
Cook further revealed that Apple now has 453 retail stores globally, after having recently opened six new stores in China. He also revealed that, 120 million buyers had visited Apple’s retail stores in the last quarter alone.
