After an underwhelming response to its first generation smartwatch, Apple has taken the wraps off its latest generation Apple Watch. Called the Apple Watch Series 2, the new smartwatch focuses on fitness enthusiasts. The smartwatch comes with a water resistance 50 meter rating for swimming. Another major addition is built-in GPS connectivity, which Apple says will allow users to use the smartwatch without depending on the iPhone. Along with the Watch Series 2, Apple has introduced Apple Watch Series 1. The company has tied up with Nike to launch a Apple Watch Nike+ variant, which has sportier design, and focuses on fitness enthusiasts. The Apple Watch Series 1 is priced at $299 in the US, and replaces the first generation Apple Watch. The Watch Series 1 and Series 2 will be available in the US starting September 16. In India, the Apple Watch Series 1 will be available in gold, rose gold, silver or space grey aluminium cases paired with a Sport Band and starts at just Rs 23,900 whereas the Apple Watch Series 2 will be available in gold, rose gold, silver or space grey aluminium, or silver or space black stainless steel cases paired with a wide variety of bands starting at Rs 32,900. The new ceramic Apple Watch Edition starts at Rs 110,900 while the Apple Watch Nike+ starts at Rs 32,900. The Nike+ variant will be launched later next month. The Apple Watch Series 2 runs watchOS 3 operating system. The watchOS 3 brings the software experience closer to the iOS. The watchOS 3 comes with its own control center, allowing users to access key information such as battery levels, and features like do not disturb and airplane mode. There s an Instant Launch feature that allows you to access favorite apps much faster. These apps are stored in memory allowing quicker firing of them on the display. The feature is said to help launch apps seven times faster than usual. Then there are apps like Breathe and SOS.

Apple s new smartwatch runs its second generation S2 dual-core processor. According to the company, the processor helps make the wearable up to 50 percent faster, and a new GPU enables deliver up to two times better graphics performance. Also, the Watch Series 2 has a brighter display with up to 1,000 nits, which is two times brighter than the predecessor. The company claims this is the brightest display Apple has ever added on to any of its devices so far.
