Apple s annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) is right around the corner and there’s no single day when we don’t come across a report or two about all the hardware and software-related announcements that the company is expected to make. The WWDC 2017 kick starts on June 5 and concludes on June 9. CEO Tim Cook is expected to open the keynote at 10.30PM (IST). Now, just days ahead of the event, the company appears to have registered at least five new Mac models running macOS Sierra. Discovered by a French website called Consomac, the five new Macs, identified with just their codes as A1289, A1347, A1418, A1419, and A1481, are likely to be Apple s new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro along with the new 12-inch MacBook and an upgraded MacBook Air. In addition to the information on Macs, the regulatory filing also details spare parts for the premium range of laptops. These include what could possibly be a wireless keyboard and four numbers classified under iOS 10 (A1671, A1709, A1670, and A1701), suggesting it could be the long-rumored new iPad Pro model. Macrumors reports that the MacBook Pro orders placed on the Apple website earlier this week estimated deliveries between June 6-8 in the US indicative of the company s re-stocking plans ahead of the WWDC where new models will be announced.
To recall, Apple is expected to refresh its whole MacBook lineup and in a bid to toughen up against Microsoft, there could be a new MacBook Pro which will be powered by Intel s latest Kaby Lake processor. This would make the laptop stand neck to neck with the new Microsoft Surface Pro 2017, albeit the convertible feature. ALSO READ: Epic Fail! In addition to the new MacBook models, the WWDC 2017 is also expected to witness announcements around the iOS 11, macOS, tvOS and watchOS. While there are scant details available around other software, for the iOS 11, Apple is likely to add support for an enhanced Siri which will be smarter in its responses thanks to the use of artificial intelligence. Additionally, it is also expected that the Apple Music service will receive an update. The company’s own music streaming service is likely to put more focus on original content. The company is reportedly working on 10 original series.
Furthermore, Apple Clips, the company s take on Instagram could also be detailed in length. It is worth mentioning that the app had been announced earlier and might receive a brief mention at the conference. Other nifty features to make it to the update may include sleep monitoring, peer-to-peer Apple Pay support, and a dark mode to leverage the rumored OLED display for the future iPhone. In terms of hardware, it is expected that CEO Tim Cook could throw more light on the much-rumored Siri home speaker. If announced, the Siri-powered home speaker would take on the likes of Amazon Echo and Google Home which are the current leaders in the IoT-enabled smart home market.
