It’s no secret that Apple is working on a large-screened iPad, which it is expected to launch later this year. Apple Insider has learnt that the 12.9-inch iPad Pro will have bunch of feature additions like NFC support, Force Touch input support, a USB-C connector and even an optional Bluetooth stylus accessory.
Citing anonymous sources, the new iPad is set to support a new Bluetooth Stylus accessory to improve the overall user experience. This is in line with previous reports that said that this accessory will be optional and will not be included as a mandate with the iPad Pro. It is said to be a pretty basic accessory and has been made keeping in mind heavy corporate users.
The report also states that the iPad pro will have the NFC radio feature to accept payments via Apple Pay. The company foresees this product serving as a payment terminal in many stores. It will also simplify in pairing with the stylus and other accessories.
Apple is also planning to embed the Force Touch input feature into the new tablet. The feature is already present on the Apple Watch and new Macbooks and senses pressure from fingertips and even the stylus. Lastly, the 12.9-inch tablet will also have the USB-C connector just like the new Macbook. The report does not provide clarity on whether it will replace the Lightning connector, or have slots for both.
Previous leaks indicate that iPad Pro will only be 7mm thick and will weigh less than 700 grams. The display will boast 2K resolution and the tablet will pack a monstrous 11,000mAh battery. From what we have heard so far, the tablet will be powered by an A8X processor paired with 2GB of RAM, and feature an anti-reflective screen coating, and come in different color options, much like iPhones. The tablet is also likely to run on a “hybrid” version of iOS which will have support for several OS X’s features including multitasking and more.
