Apple is expected to launch three new models of iPhone during its fall event in September. Alongside the launch of new iPhone, Apple might also launch fourth generation Apple Watch, refreshed AirPods, an entry-level MacBook and finally announce the availability of AirPower wireless charger.

While the launch of three new iPhone, Apple Watch and refreshed AirPods seem certain, there is some level of uncertainty around the launch of new MacBook. According to TrendForce, Apple will launch the new entry-level MacBook during the third quarter, suggesting either September or October. The report said that the new entry-level model will be called MacBook Air and not MacBook. Now, Digitimes out with a new report that sheds more light on Apple’s hardware for the second half of 2018.

The report, which cites industry sources, says that Apple will launch a $1,200 (around Rs 84,200) entry-level MacBook powered by Intel’s Kaby Lake chipset in September. The entry-level MacBook is said to bring not only refreshed CPU but also Retina display, which is currently available only on MacBook Pro. Apple has not refreshed the MacBook Air for nearly three years and its best-selling laptop seems to be losing out to rival devices running Windows.

If the entry-level MacBook in the report does refer to the 13-inch MacBook Air that we have been hearing about over the past few days then it raises questions about Apple’s definition of entry-level. Earlier, it was rumored that Apple is aiming at the sub-$1,000 market with its entry-level MacBook. However, if the company does stick with $1,200 price then it might suggest we are still looking at premium offering.

The report further adds that Apple originally planned to release the cheaper 13-inch MacBook early this year and had designed the product around Intel’s 10nm CPU architecture. However, the iPhone maker has revised the design to adopt 14nm Intel Kaby Lake chips due to delayed rollout of 10nm chipsets.

Digitimes also reveals that Apple will continue to sell the iPad mini 4 as it is and not refresh its smaller tablet. The Taiwan-based publication expects Apple to announce the release date of AirPower, its wireless charging mat at the 2018 iPhone event. The publication predicts Apple will price the wireless charger in the $160 (around Rs 11,250) to $190 (around Rs 13,300) price range.

The information shared in the new report should be taken with a grain of salt since supply sources do not have a great track record with predicting price of a forthcoming product. However, the suggested price of AirPower aligns with a recent Chinese report that hinted at $150 retail price for the new AirPower. The AirPower will be capable of charging an iPhone, AirPods and an Apple Watch simultaneously.
