Apple s latest ad isn t about a new feature but takes one down on an emotional trip as it highlights the Memories feature available on Photos. Apple s Memories feature debuted in 2010 with iOS 10 and it scans your library, collating your photos and videos to create a short and memorable movie. The ad titled The Archives features an old man who is an archivist and is rummaging through its files and picking out a set of photos and an old camera roll for videos. He then sits down and starts working on the photos and videos collected to create a movie titled Together . The movie is a collection of photos and videos about a family and their two kids. The journey of when the mother first carried the child to the kids growing up and sharing intimate moments. The movie is accompanied by a remake of The Righteous Brothers Unchained Melody playing in the background. The ad ends with the old archivist continuing with its work of walking around the library.

The ad as emotional and sweet as it is, it evokes the message Apple is trying to relay about its Memories feature. The whole process of the archivist carefully selecting the photos and videos and turning them into a dedicated movie is Apple s way of saying how its Memories feature is very personal.
In addition to sharing the full-length ad, Apple also released three short videos on how to customize and share Memories. The first video is simply about playing Memories on your iPhone. One can do so by opening the Photos app and selecting the Memories tab. Under that, the created Memories will be visible on top and one can view it by tapping on the play icon below. The second video shows how one can edit the mood of their Memories movie. One can choose between different moods varying from happy, uplifting, epic and upon selecting, the movie will play accordingly. The third video talks about how one can share their Memories by simply tapping on the share icon placed above the video. Doing so, people can share their Memories on social media platforms like Facebook.
The Memories feature on iOS 11 will come with new categories for pets, babies, birthdays, weddings, and more. Apple has been posting videos about photography tips for iPhones since May.
