Rumors and leaks about Apple s anniversary line of iPhones are taking over the internet right now. The next iteration of the flagship smartphone, which will be released in 2017 when the iconic iPhone turns 10, is expected to bring back the glass design along with a host of upgrades over this year s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. Widely speculated to be available in three display sizes, fresh leaks suggest that Apple will introduce a vertical dual-lens camera setup at the back of the smartphone instead of placing it horizontally. Last week it was reported that instead of announcing an anniversary edition iPhone 8, Apple will stick to its tradition and announce the S variants to its iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in 2017. The S variants, dubbed iPhone 7S and iPhone 7S Plus, are expected to be accompanied with a third variant codenamed Ferrari . This model is likely to be the most-premium variant and come with major design changes and new features. Also Read - Apple iOS 15, iPadOS 15 beta 4 released: What’s new, how to download
As reported earlier, there will be three display sizes of 4.7-inch, 5.5-inch, and a third 5-inch size which will sit between the smaller version and the phablet model. Now a report on AppleInsider notes that the 5-inch model will boast similar specifications as the 4.7-inch iPhone 7S and 5.5-inch iPhone 7S Plus, but will feature a dual-lens camera array with iSight modules which will be arranged vertically instead of a horizontal placement as seen on the existing lineup. It is unclear whether the different camera design and placement will extend to the phablet size or will be restricted to just one of the three variants. By far, Apple is speculated to bring back the iPhone 4-like rear glass design with its next iPhone lineup and possibly opt for an OLED display. It is further rumored to introduce invisible home buttons and a capacitive fingerprint sensor which will be layered beneath the display. Taking design inspiration from the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, the next iPhone is also likely to feature a curved edge-to-edge screen. Apple is said to be in talks with display suppliers including LG and Sharp. If the suppliers are able to fulfill the demands, we might be able to see the curved OLED display on the next iPhone or else the wait is going to get longer.
One of the highlights of the next iPhone is that it is said to boast truly wireless charging capabilities. Currently, Samsung offers wireless charging which requires the device to be placed on a charging dock. However, what Apple is reportedly trying to achieve is the ability to allow charging from a distance. The company has also been granted patents on the technology which uses over-the-air electricity to power devices. The technology aims to attain wireless charging capabilities from a distance of 15 feet. ALSO READ: Apple iPhone 8 could feature Xiaomi Mi 5s-like capacitive fingerprint sensor
