In a chat with Digitimes, Asus’ CEO Jerry Shen revealed that the company will be showcasing at least two new smartphones — the Zenfone Zoom and the Zenfone Max. The Zenfone Max is what Asus announced at the Zenfestival last month. The smartphone will go on sale sometime in October, which is when the company will reveal its price. Asus Zenfone Max specifications: The smartphone features a 5.5-inch display with Gorilla Glass 4 protection, Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core chipset, 2GB of RAM, 13-megapixel f/2.0 camera at the back, and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, and on the software front, it runs on Android Lollipop.
Shen was also quite generous in terms of giving a glimpse at the kind of smartphones we can expect from Asus in the near future. He revealed that Asus will be launching no less than 6-7 smartphones next year in its Zenfone lineup.
These smartphones will include a new Zenfone Deluxe, two variants of the recently announced Zenfone 2 Laser, new Zenfone Selfie, as well as two Zenfone Go models. Shen also said that Asus’ unique Padfone lineup is far from dead, and will instead be absorbed into the Zenfone lineup.
