In December we told you about Asus planning to launch two 7-inch Jelly Bean tablets codenamed ME371MG and ME172V priced between $199 and $250 at the CES. But for reasons only known to the Taiwanese company, these tablets were not launched at the US event. These 7-inch tablets though refuse to be out of the news and a recent report by PhoneArena states that Asus might be planning to launch the tablets at the upcoming MWC in Barcelona. The ME371MG tablet will be called the Asus Fonepad according to the details leaked on the Indonesian POSTEL database. Before the details were taken down though, the database revealed that the Fonepad would cost about $265 (Rs 14,300 approximately) and will be available in two color variants.
The Fonepad will run on Android Jelly Bean and we expect will sport a 7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280×800, powered by a single-core Intel Atom CPU clocked at 1.2GHz based on the Saltwell architecture. Besides this, it will also have 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, 3G, Wi-Fi and will also have a 3-megapixel camera.
