Asus has launched the second-generation ROG Strix series laptops in India. The new ROG GL504, which was introduced globally earlier this year, is now officially available in the country. With ROG GL504, Asus is trying to appeal to the growing segment of users that are looking for performance and portability in one device. Prices for the Asus GL504 start at Rs 1,39,990.

With ROG GL504, Asus has trimmed the bezels surrounding the display, which gives it a much cleaner look and helps packs a large 15.6-inch display with Ful- HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The ROG GL504‘s biggest selling point is its display which uses a 144Hz refresh panel and has a very quick response time of around 3ms. The display alone warrants the Scar II to be called as a major upgrade and not just another incremental update over its predecessor.

Under the hood, the ROG GL504 is powered by Intel’s 8th generation Core i7-8750H CPU, which is a six-core processor offering twelve threads for running multiple applications. It also comes with discrete GPU with option to choose between GTX 1060 and 6GB of GDDR5 memory or GTX 1070 with 8GB of GDDR5 memory. While GTX 1070 may not be the top tier in the GTX 1000 series, it is so good that most gamers and prosumers will be able to get maximum benefit of the video card.

The ROG GL504 also embraces the notion of ‘RGB Everything’ with the laptop getting RGB backlit keyboard, a front LED strip and the ROG logo on the lid that has RGBs embedded underneath it. The RGB lighting on the machine can be controlled using Asus’ Aura Sync application, which offers a wide array of configurations for controlling the light.

The ROG GL504 Scar II is equipped with RGB keyboard that offers full layout with dedicated number pad and has key travel of 1.8mm. The W, A, S and D keys, the main keys while playing first person shooter games, have a clear key cap, which adds a distinct touch to the keyboard. There is also a trackpad with Windows Precision drivers for accurate movement.

With ROG GL504, Asus is trying to win users who are primarily looking for a laptop that can help them prepare and enter into esports. For most part, it delivers on the perfect balance between performance and portability. The ROG GL504 runs Windows 1o Home and is priced at Rs 1,39,990 for the GTX1060 variant while the model with GTX 1070 is priced at Rs 1,79,990.
