The Asus ROG Phone was announced last week at Computex 2018.  Alongside the high-end hardware, Asus mentioned that the phone comes with a tweaked Snapdragon 845 SoC, which could perform better than other phones running the same processor. While we weren’t sure of how much more the Asus ROG Phone could deliver in terms of performance, a recent benchmark score does confirm it to be the fastest phone running the Snapdragon 845 chipset.

According to a Geekbench listing, the Asus ROG Phone managed to score 9,534 in the multi-core test, and 2,547 in the single-core test. These make it the highest scoring phone yet. While the difference isn’t substantial, there could be multiple reasons why Asus ROG Phone comes out on top here. Starting with the fact that the Snapdragon 845 SoC on the ROG phone features higher clock speeds of 2.96GHz, compared to other flagship devices with the same processor. It also features a binning process, which easily gives the smartphone an advantage of 200MHz over other high-end smartphones. Not to mention, Asus has also equipped the phone with a copper heat spreader, and a 3D vapor chamber that help keep the temperatures down.

According to GSMarena, the higher scores could also be a result of the high-performance X Mode on the smartphone. In this mode, the phone raises the minimum clock speeds of the four performance cores, while shutting down the four efficiency cores to deliver maximum power. If that’s true, then based on the single core scores, there is a good chance that the phone might also achieve 10,000 in the multi-core tests, if it could manage heat levels even better.

Besides the high-performance Snapdragon 845 SoC, the Asus ROG Phone also comes with 8GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. It also features a 6-inch Full HD+ (1080×2160 pixels) AMOLED display, which boasts 90Hz refresh rate and supports HDR. The phone is also armed with a massive 4,000mAh battery, and Asus’ HyperCharge technology. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo with ZEN UI on top.

In the optics department, the phone features a dual-rear camera setup at the back which consists of 12-megapixel sensor, paired alongside an 8-megapixel sensor. For selfies, the phone comes with an 8-megapixel camera up front. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
