Carrying software version number 22.214.171.124, the update brings all the goodness of Android Marshmallow, which includes app standby and doze mode for improved battery life, Google Now-On-Tap, new app permissions to control the data you share, bug fixes and performance improvements. As the update has been released in a staged manner, it may take a while before it hits your device. For those who are a little impatient, can head over to Settings > About > System Update to manually check for updates. With the update, Asus has also gotten rid of some bloatware.
After the update, you will no longer have Asus Messaging, Asus Email and Asus Calendar apps pre-loaded. However, you can still download these apps from the Play Store. As an alternative to these apps, users can use Google Messenger, Gmail and Google Calendar.
Lastly, the update won t support APPS2SD functionality. So, if you have installed any app and moved it to the external storage, ensure that you move it back to the phone s internal storage, or you may not be able to use it later.
