Asus has sent out official media invites suggesting the ‘launch of latest Zenfone’ in India on October 17. As of now, there is no clarity on which phone Asus is planning to introduce, but the rumor mills have suggested two new Zenfone smartphones on the lines of already successful Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1. The first stock Android smartphone, the Zenfone Max Pro M1, has been a huge success for Asus since the launch in April. We have heard rumors about Asus already working on the successor from some time now. But before the successors, follow-up to the Zenfone Max Pro M1 – an affordable and ‘Lite’ models could be expected, likely to take on the affordable Redmi 6-series. Recently the alleged Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2, and the Zenfone Max M2 were spotted in certification listing of the Eurasian Economic Commission in Russia. These two anticipated smartphones were listed with model number ZB633KL and ZB631KL. The certification had revealed Android 8.0 Oreo OS presence on the devices. But these may not be launched at the October 17 event.
As of now, there is no information on the Asus Zenfone Max M2 and Zenfone Max Pro M2 specifications. Asus appears to be going with two names to differentiate these devices based on RAM and storage. The anticipated 6GB or 8GB RAM model could be the Zenfone Max Pro M2, but there’s no clarity as yet.
Other than that we are expecting Asus to bump up the hardware on upcoming Asus Zenfone Max M2 and Zenfone Max Pro M2. The phone could sport Snapdragon 660 SoC instead of the Snapdragon 636 seen on Pro M1. Asus had up to 6GB RAM variants in the Zenfone Max Pro M1, so it is quite possible the Asus might to with an 8GB RAM variant as well. Both models expected to run stock Android like last time, also we are expecting the latest ‘notch’-style display over the edge-to-edge 18:9 full screen.

Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 had a pair of 13-megapixel and a 5-megapixel depth sensor at the back. Other connectivity options such as dual SIM card slots, 4G LTE with VoLTE HD voice calling, Wi-FI, Bluetooth and GPS are likely to remain same on Zenfone Max M2 and Zenfone Max Pro M2, when they launch on October 17 in New Delhi. The launch event will take place at 12:30PM, and it is expected to be livestreamed as well.
