Asus‘ forthcoming smartphone has been certified by China s TENAA. The certification has also revealed some of its key specifications and features. According to the latest entry in the Chinese regulator s database, the smartphone bears the codename Z01HDA, and is believed to launch as the Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom. The listing further reveals Snapdragon 625 chipset and a 5.5-inch full HD display. As far as the design goes, images listed on TENAA also reveals the device will be available in silver color option. The images show the front and back profile of the smartphone. Looking at the front image of the smartphone, the selfie camera lens can be seen located above the display along with speaker and proximity sensors. The back of the smartphone houses a dual-camera setup, which could also be the main highlight of the smartphone.
Of late several smartphone companies like Apple, LG, Xiaomi, and Huawei among others have launched phones with dual cameras. Right now, there s no word on how the dual camera works. The camera lens is placed vertically with the LED flash. There is also a square fingerprint scanner followed by the Asus branding. The power and volume buttons are located on the right side of the smartphone and the SIM slot tray is located on the left side. If the images are to be believed, this Asus smartphone is likely to have a full metal design and slimmer bezels up front.
Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom specifications
According to TENAA listing, the smartphone will feature a 5.5-inch full-HD (1920x 1080) display. Under the hood the smartphone will be powered by a 2.0GHz Snapdragon 652 processor. The phone will be available in three variants- 2GB, 3GB, and 4GB of RAM with internal storage of 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB respectively.
While the listed images reveal a dual-camera setup, the spec sheet on TENAA says that the smartphone only features a single 16-megapixel camera. According to a recent report, it features a dual rear camera with 12.2-megapixel + 13- megapixel configuration. There will also be a 13-megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone will be armed with a large 4,850mAh battery, which will be good enough to power the full-HD display and the processor along with the dual-camera setup.On the software front, the device runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.
Additionally, the smartphone measures 154.3 77 7.99mm and weighing in at 170 grams. The smartphone will be available in navy black, new crafts silver and luxury gold color options. There’s currently no word on its pricing and availability.
The Asus Zenfone 3 Zoom is likely to be successor to the Zonefone Zoom, which launched in India earlier this year. The Zenfone Zoom, a camera-centric smartphone, comes equipped with a 3X optical zoom. It sports a 13-megapixel SmartFSI sensor comprising of 10 lenses four aspherical glasses, four glass lenses and two prism lenses.
Interestingly, Asus had recently sent out media invites for an event on January 4. Asus hasn t revealed which device it will be showcasing at the CES 2017. All we know is that the device will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. According to a few reports, the company might launch a new smartphone running Qualcomm s latest 835 processor and is likely to be a high-end one. Assuming that the Asus Z01HDA has been spotted online right before the launch, we can expect Asus to showcase this smartphone at the upcoming CES 2017 as well.
