Earlier today, Asus revealed its plans to launch the Zenfone 2 in India in the last week of April. In the meantime however, the company has spilled the beans on its next flagship as well. In a chat with the Chinese media, Asus CEO Jerry Shen revealed that the Zenfone 3 will be launching next year and will come with a fingerprint scanner in tow, GforGames reports. While it is a long wait, Shen also revealed that the company plans on launching a facelifted Zenfone 2 in the second half of this year, which too will boast the fingerprint scanner. There is no word on the kind of specifications and features the facelifted Zenfone 2 is set to include. The current Zenfone 2 features a 5.5-inch full HD (1920 1080 pixels) IPS display, 2.3GHz Intel Atom Z3580 quad-core 64-bit processor, and 4GB of RAM.
The handset also features a 13-megapixel primary camera, 5-megapixel selfie camera, 3,000mAh battery with fast charging capabilities, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, LTE support, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. On the software front, it runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop wrapped under the company s Zen UI.
As mentioned above, the company plans on launching the Zenfone 2 in India in the last week of April.
