At the ongoing Zenfestival, Asus is launching three new smartphones, including the Zenfone 2 Laser. This photography-centric smartphone has been launched in three variants, priced at Rs 9,999, Rs 13,999 and Rs 17,999. It is a photography-centric smartphone, with a 13-megapixel rear camera boasting a laser autofocus. This is a feature we have previously seen on the LG G3. Asus claims that with this feature one will be able to focus on a subject in less than half a second. As far as specifications are concerned, the Zenfone 2 flaunts a 5.5-inch HD (1280×720 pixels) display, with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. There is also a bigger variant (ZE601KL), which flaunts a 6-inch display. It is powered by a Snapdragon 410 quad-core 64-bit processor paired with 2GB of RAM. The Rs 13,999 variant features 3GB of RAM, and is powered by a Snapdragon 615 processor.
Also on offer is 16GB internal storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card. The smartphone also features a 5-megapixel selfie camera, 2,070mAh (8GB variant) and 3,000mAh (16GB variant) battery, and connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. On the software front, it runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop wrapped under ZenUI.
Since the preview event last week, we have spent some time with the smartphone, and here our first impressions.
